The State Board of Regents endorsed creating a state work-study program to supplement the Federal College Work-Study funds. They plan to seek about 1 million dollars annually from the Legislature to offset federal cuts, while Iowa universities will draft supporting legislation. The regents also approved a 718 thousand dollar lease extension for Mayflower Apartments at Iowa City to house students and advisers for 1983-84, a 12 percent increase from current costs, with figures to be finalized after new residency rates.
