Senate group draws bank law revisions
Washington scholars report the Senate Banking Committee shapes the first general revision of national bank legislation since the Fed was created. Senator Glass of Virginia sponsors the bill after two years of study. The plan separates banks from security affiliates, centralizes policy enforcement in the Fed Board for member banks, allows branch banking, and limits real estate ownership by federally chartered banks.
