Gulf States Open to Sending Special Forces to Syria

Gulf Arab nations including Saudi Arabia United Arab Emirates Qatar and Bahrain are discussing sending special forces to Syria as part of the U S led coalition against Islamic State Adel al Jubeir said in Paris. In Washington U S officials say Pakistan could have conducted a fuller background check on San Bernardino attacker Tashfeen Malik before her 2014 visa but the routine checks found no derogatory information and a deeper review was not requested. The San Bernardino attack killed 14 people and raised questions about visa screening.

Threat to L A schools deemed hoax by officials

Los Angeles officials closed all L A Unified campuses after a credible threat disrupted schools. A House Intelligence Committee member said the threat appears to be a hoax and investigations continue into the origin and responsible party. A second congressman noted the email claimed victimhood and linked to extremists, but showed little knowledge of Islam. The threat referenced backpacks and weapons and traced to an IP in Frankfurt.

Baltimore officer Porter trial ends in jury deadlock over Freddie Gray case

A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury of seven women and five men failed to reach a verdict after almost 10 hours of deliberations in the involuntary manslaughter case against police officer William Porter in the death of Freddie Gray. Judge Barry Williams ordered continued deliberations as the city braces for potential unrest.
