Vernon bids Cedar Rapids farewell after eight years on council
Monica Vernon, 58, exits the Cedar Rapids City Council after two terms to pursue a U.S. House bid. She says the flood recovery and rebuilding NewBo City Market symbolize a city that has come back better, with a drive to attract jobs and keep Cedar Rapids vibrant. Mayor Ron Corbett and Council member Scott Olson praise her leadership and design reforms.
