U of I heart transplant survival shows improvement
University Hospitals one year survival for heart transplant patients in the late 1980s and early 1990s trailed national averages but improved to 84.4 percent after 1993 and 1994 program changes. Data from 1988 through April 1994 show 69 percent survival among 71 recipients, with national averages around 82.5 percent.
