Iowa Main Street program aims to revitalize five towns
Lottery funded Main Street plan will select five Iowa cities with 5 000 to 80 000 population in March to revitalize downtowns through organization promotion design and economic restructuring. Each town must hire a full time coordinator and secure local funding plus a state grant and staff support from the National Main Street Center. The effort seeks to preserve historic buildings and boost local economies while facing uncertain funding from the lottery account.
