Farmers rally for Farmer-to-Farmer aid in county jamboree
Speakers including Brent and representatives from Grassley Harkin offices urged farmers to seek help during long credit battles. The event raised funds for Farmer-to-Farmer groups with music, potluck and an auction. Dvorak led voluntary efforts since last March, aided by Linn County agencies and United Way.

Davidson Wows Cedar Rapids with Lush Holiday Pops
In Cedar Rapids, John Davidson headlined the Cedar Rapids Symphony Holiday Pops at the Paramount Theatre. The show blended serious seasonal pieces under Christian Tiemeyer with Davidson joined by his rhythm section for a lively second half. Davidson’s Vegas persona, jokes, and interactive moments energized a near full house, though the orchestra sometimes overpowered his amplified voice.

Hamilton Rifle From 1900s Noted For Unique Rifling
Local gunsmiths in Cedar Rapids describe the Hamilton rifle as rare and instantly identifiable by its unusual rifling. Invented by Clarence Hamilton of Plymouth Michigan in 1900, the cheap pipe-like barrel design yielded a flimsy, undependable firearm that sold in the hundreds of thousands through promotional deals. Many were never numbered, complicating production counts. By 1942 the firm closed, with few examples surviving today.
