Police warn against leaving vehicles in streets during vacations and long weekends. Through July 400 cars were tagged for unmoved status after 24 to 48 hour limits in streets and city lots, with many warned in time to avoid tow.
The U S Geological Survey reports Pittsburgh and Gulf Coast areas as hot spots with temperatures above 300 degrees Fahrenheit found at depths of 12 000 to 16 000 feet in wells. Miami remains the only cold spot with 212 degrees at 14 000 feet. Maps based on 30 000 wells are available from the survey in Arlington Virginia or Denver Colorado. ST. PAUL AP Edward Kajer will turn 90 next month and plans to retire after 65 years as a traveling salesman. He cites his legs and slower walking as reasons, but says he loves his work which has been both hobby and recreation since his wife died. Kajer has sold paper products for Melady Paper Co. of St. Paul and traveled millions of miles, noting how travel and social bonds among salesmen have changed with cars and modern motels.

Petrouchka set to Stravinsky music and Pineapple Poll a comic work will open December 21, with Rovlea slated to premiere the next night.
