Two Sent To Hospital After Crash
Four persons, two hospitalized, were injured in a two car crash at First Avenue and Eighteenth Street SW. Howard S. Buxton, 410 Eighteenth Street NW, was charged with failure to yield at a stop. Sandra K. Warren, 19, of 513 C Avenue NW, admitted to St Luke's with head injuries. James E. Miller, 21, of 804 Tenth Street SE, admitted with facial and knee lacerations. Barbara Carr, 20, of 513 C Avenue NW, treated and released. Buxton's wife Mary, 69, treated and released. Donald C. Smith, 1410 Eleventh Avenue, Marion, charged with failure to yield after another accident at B Avenue and Fourteenth Street NE. Gene R. Sanders, 23, admitted to St Luke's with face and neck lacerations. Harold A. Voelpel Jr., 420 Twenty-First Street NE, treated and released for head and neck injuries. Louis Cullman, 4401 Benton Street NE, charged with failure to control after car struck a stopped vehicle at Franklin Avenue and Twenty-Seventh Street NE. Charles G. Schmidt, 1603 J Avenue NE, whiplash injury treated and released.

Anton Elected Chairman of Chamber Convention Bureau
The convention and visitors bureau of the Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday that Duane Anton was elected chairman. He previously served as vice chairman in 1969 and as an active member before this year. Roy Metcalfe becomes bureau vice chairman. Anton is sales manager for WMT Music and Sound, and Metcalfe is associated with the World and Times theaters. The bureau arranges city conventions and offers services from pre convention planning to post convention evaluation.

He comes from the Davenport ISES office where he has served as assistant manager for six years after working in Carroll. Edith Rieke has acted as Cedar Rapids manager since October. Developer Will Resubmit Plea For Rezoning
Bjornsen Investment Corp seeks a rezoning from R-1 to R-36 north of Forty-second street NE west of Kennedy high school for a 580 unit townhouse project on a 66 acre tract. The plan drew protests from over 800 residents after being tabled August 12 and is now slated for Cedar Rapids city council consideration on Wednesday.
