Mastodon Bone Heads to UI Museum Display

Iowa experts unveil a well preserved mastodon tibia found near Cedar Rapids by Stanley and Diana Carpenter. The 27 inch, 40 pound bone dates from about 10 to 12 thousand years ago and will be shown in the Iowa Hall glacial exhibit where visitors can touch it. The bone was found near Squaw Creek amid last summer floods and will be publicly unveiled at Macbride Hall.

Approval of GATT at hand

After seven years of tense talks, U S and European negotiators reach a broad agreement positioning more than 100 nations to approve a historic GATT deal.
