Prairieburg Frank Beebe aged 65 of Hills Mill died in a trailer house fire Monday. Firemen said the blaze may have begun when Beebe tried to start a stove with an inflammable liquid in an old abandoned mill two miles west and a mile south of Prairie Bore.
John Lawrence Lewis, 54, was returned to Cedar Rapids to face forgery charges after serving six years in New Mexico and Kansas. A blaze and a neighbor’s tip led to investigation. Ministers from Belgium France West Germany Italy The Netherlands and Luxembourg reached a plan to base prices on production costs and boost intra area trade. Memorial services were held Wednesday at 10 40 by Rev Robert J McDonald and Elder Lewis L Howard of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial followed at Cedar Memorial and Shitoh cemetery, respectively.
Washington AP A house committee set a Thursday hearing on complaints by three members about a Pageant magazine poll listing them among five least effective congressmen. Sworn complaints were filed by Reps Boggs Hays and Pucinski. Publisher Lee Bartels of Macfadden-Bartell Co will testify.
London AP report says Prime Minister Wilson has begun contacting Soviet Premier Kosygin about a possible visit to London next spring for talks to ease world tensions. Aides said Kosygin’s reaction is awaited, and Wilson reportedly informed President Johnson in advance during their meeting last week.
At Manila Sabic Bay naval base a US sailor and a Filipino were electrocuted when they sought shelter inside a power relay station during a storm. They ran into the electrical facility supplying power to ships at berth and touched exposed wires. The incident occurred Friday.
