The 54th annual Messiah at Cornell College opened the Christmas season in King Memorial chapel. Soloists Charlotte Reinke Susan Moon William Taylor and P A Davison joined the Cornell chorus and orchestra under Dr Paul Beckhelm. Hallelujah chorus drew the standing ovation.

Iowa Farmer Killed In Car Train Crash
Cherokee Iowa farmer Thomas Fee Jr., 35, died when his car was struck by an Illinois Central passenger train six miles east. The car’s motor was hurled 180 feet from the impact. The engineer sounded the whistle but could not avoid the collision. Fee was alone, and a Bible was found in the wreckage. a sheriff noted he may have been en route to or from church.
