U S Warns Russians On Hungary

Mayor offers plan to end New York subway walkout

New York mayor Robert Wagner proposed a peace plan to end the six day subway motormen strike. He promised to study wage inequities and have the Transit Authority back a request to release leaders from jail. Iran Quake Toll Tops 1,287 Dead in West Iran

The death toll from Friday's major earthquake in western Iran rose to 1,287, with 1,100 victims from a single village near the quake center. Rescue workers search snowbound ruins at Farsang near Sehneh, about 240 miles southwest of Tehran, as 210 bodies are recovered.

Cherry-Burrell Shifts Milwaukee Plant to Cedar Rapids

The Milwaukee division of Cherry-Burrell will move to the Cedar Rapids plant at 2400 Sixth Street SW beginning January and finishing by late February. About 100 new jobs will be added in Cedar Rapids. Milwaukee fillers and filling equipment for milk and food products will be produced in Cedar Rapids to improve efficiency and reduce costs. The Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce is assisting.

Beck's Attorney to File Motion for New Trial
