Aerospace-age bachelor pad: 727 home for single nerd
Bruce Campbell, a 49 year old electrical engineer, converts a 1969 Boeing 727 into a 1066 square foot living space on his Oregon property. The former jet, moved for 25 thousand dollars, will serve as a residence with a cockpit office and a split bathroom laundry area, amid plans for future wings and possible expansion. Campbell cites romance of flight and a desire to repurpose a derelict craft over scrap. He paid a salvage firm 100 thousand dollars, and 45 thousand more for the move, with wings to be detached and reattached later. He hopes to attract a partner to share the project and dreams of a future Alaska 747 housing possibility.
