Jeff Payton scored 42 points in two games to lift the Harding ninth grade boys basketball team to decisive wins over Roosevelt and Taft. He had 27 in a 76-44 win over Taft and 15 in a 71-31 victory against Roosevelt, as Harding rose to 6-2 on the year. McKinley also stood 6-2 with two wins, and Franklin, Wilson, and Prairie posted notable results in league play.
