Eastern Iowa Recruits Sign Five Forces Enlistment
Five Cedar Rapids area youths join the armed forces in a Wednesday ceremony. Verlin L. Heeren and Charles F. Lehner enlist in the air force with Lackland Texas training. Gerald A. Hull enters the navy through the high school program for San Diego training. Robert M. Lynge joins the army as a truck driver bound for Fort Carson Colorado. Jerry J. Lyon enrolls in the marine corps with a station in Alaska and training at Pope Air Force Base North Carolina. Additional service members on leave include Michael W. Sullivan a ground communications repairman and Seaman Apprentice Betty Ann Michal in naval training.
