Nebraska coach Bill Glassford defended intercollegiate football practices including the two part system, spring drills, and athlete recruiting. He argued there is no corruption and that the system helps individuals get a chance to play and avoid injury, citing his own path through athletics to college.

Four team college basketball tourney at Coe College on December 28 and 29 features Coe hosting Loras Luther and Iowa Teachers. In opening games Luther meets Coe and Iowa Teachers faces Coe’s top rival in the other pairing. First round losers play December 29 with winners contending for the title.

This follows a request from minor league authorities and mirrors a similar move by the Yankees to limit game of the day national broadcasts. President Horace Stoneham stated the team will not participate in national radio programs or expansive broadcasts.
New York AP reports Maggio signed with the Yankees on Thursday to work pre game and game television programs in 1952. The Yankee Clipper announced his retirement as a player last Tuesday and the contract covers the club. any radio play-by-play duties would be negotiated separately.
Jim Hess was named honorary captain as varsity and sophomore football letters and cross country letters were awarded at Roosevelt High School. Coaches Hidinger Carney and Ebinger presented the varsity grid awards, sophomore letters, and cross country honors to listed students including George Join Jednicks Roi ley James Smyth David Anderson Baylore and Eldon soph award.
