Culling urged to keep egg prices up in Iowa
Iowa producers should implement a strict culling program to maintain egg prices at or above production costs through winter. A J Loveland, chairman of the Iowa Agricultural Adjustment Agency, says reduce flocks, cull low producers, destroy diseased hens, and sell extra poultry to support military and civilian needs as demand sustains ceiling prices. Support prices of 27 cents a dozen for candied eggs and 24 cents for farm-run eggs are cited by the War Food Administration. Farmers must cooperate with government to stabilize prices.
