Bob Hope declines Lebanon visit due to eye problem
Comedian Bob Hope, 79, declines invitation to entertain U S Marines in Lebanon this season because of a recurring right eye inflammation. Publicist Ward Grant says Hope will rest after completing a Christmas TV special and consulting doctors in New York. The invitation came from Marines and possibly from Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
