Two men died and a third injured when a car failed to negotiate a curve on highway 151 three miles west of Anamosa at about 1 a.m. Saturday. Driver Ralph W. Hanson Jr. and passenger Robert Arnold died on impact or shortly after in Mercy hospital. Clifford Close was injured with head injuries. The wreck near the Ivan Fiedler farm caused a broken service pole and loss of nearby lights. Hanson and Arnold were World War II veterans. Arnold was 25 of Cedar Rapids. Hanson 29 of Marion. Close 20 of Oxford Junction. Hanson had worked for Paulson Construction since last October after Navy service. Arnold worked for Howard Green Engineering. The trio had been returning to Cedar Rapids from Anamosa. All possible survivors and relatives are listed with hometowns and connections to local families.
