Mrs Arthur Poe of 300 Twenty seventh Street SE hosted Phi Sigma Iota members, a national Romance language honor society. John Codman Fiske of Coe College spoke on Cid in Spain and France while guests included Mrs James E Hamilton Dr Anna Heyberger Mrs Boyd G Carter and Mrs Fiske. Mrs Hamilton and Dr Pane presided at the tea.
El Kahir Shrine auxiliary to Crippled Children's Hospital announces a Christmas luncheon at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Elks Club. Members and friends are invited and asked to bring a 10 cent gift for exchange. Reservations required by 2 p.m. Tuesday with Mrs. Joe Danziger at 3-1592 or Mrs. George Russell at 2-5781.
Twenty three student teachers from Mc Auley chapter Mt Mercy Junior College visited the Children's Home Friday morning. They organized games told stories and handed out presents to the children creating a festive afternoon.
Mrs. W. J. Hutchings returns to her Ellis boulevard NW home after five months in Odessa Missouri with her father R. Marion Brown. She traveled to Missouri last July following her mother's death.
Actives and pledges of Kappa Delta sorority at Coe College were hosted by their Mothers’ club at noon lunch. Small Christmas trees served as favors and Mrs. R. M. Threlkeld, club president, presented the annual gift from the mothers to the chapter.

The Tirzah society held its annual Christmas dinner Thursday evening at Cunningham's tea room. Eleven guests, seated around a table with silver Christmas trees and candles, exchanged gifts as mystery sisters were revealed. Officers were elected: Mrs. Lewis Klever president, Mrs. Mitzi Gugenbush vice president, Mrs. Alice Lenway secretary, and Mrs. Lena Youngton treasurer. A Belle Prairie school farewell party honored Miss Mary Fiedler who will join the Linn county superintendent of schools. Members of the Kinikanka Camp Fire group gathered Wednesday at Mrs. Glenn Turner’s home at 119 Fourteenth Street NW to receive their membership cards. They planned a council fire and gift exchange for next Thursday at Mrs Turner’s, and announced plans for a fire maker’s dinner in early January.

Miss Lillick's tea room hosted the twenty fourth annual Christmas party of the F. T. P. club on Thursday evening. Dinner featured evergreen sprays and holly centerpieces, followed by a gift exchange and bingo. Attendees included Mesdames A. E. The Cedar View Country club schedules its annual formal Christmas dance for Saturday evening at the clubhouse. Holiday decorations will brighten the ballroom and an orchestra will play for dancing from 9 to 1. The entertainment committee will be in charge.

Mrs. O. B. McGuire hosted eleven members and three guests of the Silver Chain circle of the King’s Daughters at luncheon. A Christmas box was packed for the Sunshine Mission. Mrs. H. R. May will host January meeting at 732 Thirteenth Street NW.
Mrs. Ben Ogden Jr hosted seventeen members of the Silver Cross circle of the King’s Daughters at luncheon and a Christmas party. Mrs. Sam Nassif gave a reading. Donations funded a needy family and Community House Christmas parties and another basket. Mrs. H R Hess will host in January.
The Cedar Rapids Woman's Club nature and garden department met at the clubhouse. Teacher Mrs. L. J. Smith led the business session followed by Mrs. R. T. Lubbock speaking on rose history and winter protection. Mrs. George E. Beattie presented colored slides. Plans were made for a Christmas party on December 18 with husbands as guests at supper.
Chi Omega sorority mothers will entertain the girls at a Christmas party Sunday at 5 p.m. in the clubroom at 1263 First avenue E. Mrs. M. R. Warren is in charge of arrangements.

Christmas donations were sent to Des Moines and Knoxville veterans hospitals and to the Iowa cottage at Eaton Rapids Michigan. A Dec 17 party at 4 pm in the Memorial building will feature a picnic dinner at 6 30 pm and a children's gift exchange, with members asked to bring sandwiches a dish table service and a 110 cent gift. organizers include Mrs. Harry Concannon Mrs. Hugh Sheridan Miss Zelina Wiese and Mrs. John Shuell.
St James Methodist church W S C S program themed The Power of Christian Women Around the World featured women in country costumes led by Mrs O J Triebel. Participants included Mesdames Murphy Nelson Gravenhurst McCartney Collister Carson Huston Daywitt Young Kepler Nelson Mann Allen Oswald. Mrs A Walton Otto Gustafsson and Mrs C Perkins organized refreshments.
Seventy five members and friends attended Family Night at the Second Christian church. After a picnic dinner and community singing led by Jess pam a play Dad's Sunday was presented. Fred J. Kluss Roosevelt bi school principal spoke on national unity urging families to enjoy hobbies music reading and games together. He said three fors to be remembered in every family are first forebearance and forgiveness.

Mrs Paul Schroeder of Princeton Kentucky arrives Thursday to be a house guest at the home of Mrs Gertrude Myers 315 Center Point read NE. She is accompanied by her daughter Carole Lou and will stay through the holidays.

A gift exchange and donations supported a Christmas basket for a needy family. members also tied a baby quilt. Mrs. Frank Thayer will host January 13 at 1813 Seventh Ave SE.
Kenwanée Camp Fire girls met at Betty Jean Jirsa’s home to craft dolls and beds for distribution through welfare agencies. Attendees included Dorothy Zvacek Frances Starman Wilma Moel Joan Seda Elaine Heitz Barbara Lynch Donna Jean Temple Betty Jane Jirsa and guardian Mrs dney Tempie.
Mrs. Robert Wright attended a Klatter Klub gathering at 711 Eighteenth SE with seven members present. Prizes for 500 went to Mrs. Harley Hollenbeck, Mrs. Clark Sprague and Mrs. Charles Bennett. A Christmas party is planned for December 17 at Mrs. Al Doyle's residence.
