Iowa leaders push ahead after mixed waiver ruling

Iowa lawmakers react to federal CMS approval of most of the Medicaid expansion plan. House Speaker Kraig Paulsen supports implementing the package, while Senate Leader Gronstal urges moving forward with expanded eligibility. Gov Branstad remains optimistic a full waiver will be approved soon. The decision allows up to 100 percent poverty line Medicaid and 138 percent with private marketplace coverage funded by government subsidies. A 3 percent premium would apply to higher income participants, waived if health behaviors are followed. The state has 30 days to respond or propose alternatives.
