Man in serious condition after First Avenue crash
A Marion man, Mark Floyd aged 21 of 2220 Fourth Ave, Marion, remained in serious condition at St. Luke's Hospital after an early Friday accident. Floyd was a passenger in a car driven by Donald M. Loes Jr., 20, who was treated and released. The other vehicle was driven by Elsimae J. Mochal, 53, of 1127 27th St NE, who was hospitalized at Mercy before disappearing from reports. Police say Loes failed to stop for a red light on 40th Street East, driving into Mochal’s car, which crossed the center line and struck trees and a shrub, hitting a building at 4040 First Avenue. A separate single-car crash on Ellis Boulevard NW sent Mary A. Nase, 39, of 2407 Buckingham NW, to Linn County Jail after drunk driving and loss of control charges.
