Dinsdale Traer Boards Dismiss Merger Appeal
The boards of Dinsdale Consolidated and Traer Clutter Community school districts dismissed their appeal to Tama county district court from a county board of education decision on reorganizing districts. The action followed a June petition to form North Tama County Community district, which included parts of Dinsdale and all of Traer Clutter. The districts had objected to a July county board action and then dropped the case this week.

Grenade Thrower Sent to Eldora
A 15 year old boy who admitted tossing a tear gas grenade into the Drake stadium crowd during a Tech Roosevelt game injured ten people. He was sent to the Eldora Iowa training school for boys after Polk County Judge Don Tidrick admonished his parents to cooperate. Psychiatrists said the boy would gain valuable experience at the institution.

Rhodes nominees named from Iowa for scholars
DES MOINES Iowa nominees for Rhodes scholarships are Kent Harbaugh 22 of Manson and John Bohstedt 21 of West Des Moines. A state selection committee chose them Wednesday and they will be interviewed Saturday by a Midwest district committee which will select four Rhodes Scholars. Harbaugh is a graduate of the U S Air Force academy.

Scout Week Plans to be Mapped in Cedar Rapids
Preliminary plans for Boy Scout week observances in six Eastern Iowa counties will be mapped at a Cedar Rapids meeting Friday. Tom Neenan of Center Point, chairman of the Hawk Eye Area Boy Scout Council activities committee, says the group will also discuss preparations for Scout expositions. The committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Gas Co Service building.

Linn County Supervisors Approve Open Space and Election Plans
The November 19 1963 meeting approved the October 12 minutes and a Milo J. Kubasa court report with $10 000, authorized Dudley Henderson’s $5 000 bond, and appointed numerous election board members for the December 3 special election. The board adopted open space plans, agreed to transfer Palisades Access Area maintenance to Linn County, set hearings on Drainage District 7, and approved jail improvement plans with a public hearing.
