Iowa workers misclassified as independent contractors report
Common Good Iowa released a report claiming at least 12,000 Iowa construction workers were misclassified in 2022, costing workers about 43 million dollars a year and depriving the state and federal government of taxes. The study calls for stronger enforcement, broker registration, and wage protections while noting upcoming federal funding and a rise in jackhammer related labor standards.
