Discovery of Martha Washington china at Arlington House
Archaeologist Michael Roller of the National Park Service uncovered fragments of the 200-year-old states china outside Arlington House in Arlington National Cemetery. The pieces bear the words Georgia and New Hampshire with blue linked ovals and a sunburst monogram, part of a 45-piece set once owned by Martha Washington, with only about 21 pieces known today. The find, amid a $12.35 million Arlington renovation, also uncovered temple ruins and evidence of prior occupancy and a possible Civil War era mishap, suggesting further secrets at the site.
