Interpreter services grow at UIHC and USHC across languages
UIHC expands Spanish dominated interpreting with three full time interpreters and a language bank covering about 30 languages. In fiscal 2013 requests exceeded 13 500 for Spanish and over 3 000 for other non English languages. CyraCom handles off site needs while Unity Point St Luke's relies on similar phone interpreters. National certification efforts by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters aim to standardize training amid evolving professional standards.
