Iowa City council rejects public hearing for historic cottages
Iowa City voters divided as the council 4-3 rejects fast tracked public hearing to discuss historic landmark designation for three 19th century cottages at 608 610 and 614 S Dubuque St. The decision leaves preservation efforts ongoing with the Historic Preservation Commission meeting to review a Friends of Historic Preservation application as residents argue for the 60 day demolition moratorium while owners pursue rezoning and demolition permits.
