Iowa forward Rob Bruggeman, a Cedar Rapids Washington product and walk on in 2004, is named a Rudy Award finalist for exemplary character and commitment. Three finalists will be honored January 12 in Nashville with awards and scholarships.
Iowa Hawkeyes upset Northern Iowa 65 46 as Jake Kelly led with 19 points. Iowa used stifling defense, limited turnovers to five, and shot 60 percent in the second half to pull away in Iowa City. Cyrus Tate anchored late with a key buzzer play and strong perimeter defense.

The game showcased Iowa's defensive discipline and better execution this season.
Drake overcame a double-digit deficit to beat Iowa State 66-63 at Hilton Coliseum. Lucca Staiger hit eight 3-pointers for ISU, but Craig Stanley sealed the win for Drake with a late 3 and free throws as the Cyclones faltered late.
