In Yonkers New York one man was killed and three others were critically wounded in a deli holdup at Glenns Mini Market shortly after 10 PM. Police questioned two suspects and said victims were shot in the head by two men. A pizzeria worker nearby reported money scattered, suggesting a robbery gone wrong.
Rep. Bob Arnould of Davenport announced on Wednesday that he will not seek re-election. The former youngest speaker of the Iowa House plans to step away after his current term.

Shots fired on Cedar Rapids southeast side Thursday tied to an ongoing feud between two groups over a woman. Police pursued three suspects near the Fifth Avenue and 15th Street SE intersection, with two surrendering and later released. 12 shell casings were found. the gun was 9mm and fired into the air. Marcus Johnson, 18, linked to earlier Dec 1 incidents, was believed in the area. Police sought the identified gunman as the investigation continued.
Three does dart from a ditch onto old Highway 150 near Center Point. Deer hunter Jeff Satchett rear-ended the smallest yearling, then called authorities to tag the carcass. While the radio went out, an older man in a white car arrived, scoped the scene, and moved toward the deer.
A confidential White House welfare reform draft proposes teen mothers must live with parents to qualify for benefits and to deter out-of-wedlock births. It also considers a two year welfare limit, expanded education and child care, and tougher rules to deny benefits for additional children.
The draft argues to curb long term welfare by preventing entry, critiques missing cost and financing details, and envisions pay as you go funding by trimming federal entitlement programs. It notes 1991 teen family support reached $29 billion, up from $25 billion in 1990.
