Semi driver dies in head on collision near Iowa City

A Galesburg, Illinois man James L. Baker, 30, died when his semi tipped on Highway 6 and slid into an oncoming truck driven by Stanley Edward Brown, 40, of Knoxville. Brown was listed in fair condition at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Lifeguard air ambulance ferried him to the hospital after the crash near the Johnson County line between Iowa City and West Branch. The curve has a history of accidents, but Friday’s crash was notably severe.
