Regents push cuts to save nearly 942 million five years
Culver urged the Iowa Taxpayers Association to back legislative approval for proposals estimated to save 941.8 million over five years. House GOP Leader Kraig Paulsen endorsed ideas previously offered by Republicans but blocked by Democrats. Regents say they will cooperate to cut costs and list potential savings of 150 million by asset sales, energy efficiency, streamlined purchases, and curtailing health benefits for part time staff. Bob Donley cited past efficiencies and master purchasing contracts with other state agencies.
