In Cedar Rapids Linn County Trails Association held its annual meeting November 13 15 naming Jon Bogert of Anderson Bogert Engineers and Surveyors Inc president Amy Reasner of Lynch Dallas vice president Ed Holstrom treasurer and Brad Mullin of DABA Corp secretary for a two year term Rockwell Collins Retiree Volunteers elected officers November 8 at the Red Cross facility Jim Green chaired the group Keith Sutherland was vice chairman Don Grimm secretary Arlo Meyer treasurer all Cedar Rapids residents The organization supports 3700 Rockwell Collins retirees with volunteer service totaling over 20000 hours to 20 client agencies in Eastern Iowa The group has received the Governor s Volunteer Award for service.

Cedar Rapids Katharine Sandquist was named executive director at Aid to Women where she has served as directors' assistant. She previously acted as interim director of Advocate Pregnancy Center in Lawrence Kansas. Board additions include Rayetta Fetter Mary Kay sales director and Rob Gettemy of Liquid Capital. Five Upper Iowa University education professors received state commendations for contributing to teacher preparation program improvements. Gail Behrens Dawn Behan John Andersen Janet Kehe Cindy Waters were peer evaluators during the 2005 06 site visit.

Area youths win national leadership awards in Cedar Rapids
Amber Broulik from Lisbon Melissa Etten of Prairieburg and Anna Grimley of Springville received the American Youth Foundation National Leadership Award for integrity balanced living and leadership potential. Linn County 4 H presented the honor at Kirkwood Community College on November 20. The award, started in 1941 by William H Danforth, honors youth who influence others through service. Recipients may attend the foundation leadership conference in Michigan.
