Joffrey postpones Cinderella world premiere to 1993
The Joffrey Ballet will delay its Cinderella world premiere at Hancher Auditorium for one year to January 1993 citing fiscal and artistic realignments. Gerald Arpino says the extra time will help add five dancers and create a stronger program while Hancher seeks funding for the 1.5 million production costs. The company, touring Iowa City for The Nutcracker through Wednesday, will also stage 40 Joffrey dancers and 67 Iowa children.

Nutcracker delights return to Hancher Auditorium
Helen Chadima praises the Joffrey Ballet's The Nutcracker at the University of Iowa. Dancers excel in the Victorian first act with graceful children and refined adult ensembles. Glen Harris as Dr Drosselmeyer dazzles, while the snow scene and Kingdom of Sweets enchant with vivid costumes, subtle timing, and strong orchestra support.
