Messiah Review at Paramount Shows Bright Spots in Ragged Edges
A Cedar Rapids audience heard Handel’s Messiah with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra and guest soloists directed by Richard Williams. The performance featured strong verses from Margie Marrs and John Van Dura, with the chorus and orchestra delivering fluent moments but suffering ragged entrances and over embellished choices from some soloists. The review notes restrained orchestra balance and a brisk Hallelujah ending, leaving the critic sensing professional effort amid uneven execution.

Borderline film review centers on Charles Bronson
The review notes no surprises in Borderline a Lord Grade production released by Associated Film Distribution at Stage 1 Theatre. Bronson as a stoic border patrolman confronts a smuggling ring with limited action little character development and standard detective work though technical quality is solid and the PG rating reflects mild cursing and violence.
