Psoriasis Needs Medical Attention and Treatments

Psoriasis affects about eight million Americans with at least two million seriously afflicted. Onset often occurs between ages 14 and 40 with reddish silvery lesions. The American Academy of Dermatology urges medical consultation, weighing benefits against risks of treatment. Coal tar can clear lesions in weeks, with maintenance using moderate applications. Prescription cortisone and new anti tubolites are studied under physician supervision. Cortical involvement may worsen symptoms and is linked to fatigue, anxiety, injuries, or overweight.
