A tree crushed a Seattle Beltline bus killing three. an 83 year old farmer froze near Sioux City. five Michigan deaths from overheated stoves and one shoveling accident. an elderly woman died of pneumonia in Wisconsin as a woodsman recovered her body. Temperatures fell to 24 below in Rochester Minnesota and 14 below in Decorah Iowa, with a new cold spell spreading toward Michigan and the East.
Amarillo Texas officials report Virvin Blackie Thompson former Kimes gang member and ally of Raymond Hamilton was killed near Conroy after a ten day stakeout. A running car chase of fifteen miles ended in a brief gun fight with Amarillo police and sheriff's deputies leaving no officers injured.
In Honolulu Hawaii authorities press on with a navy search for the missing Stella Australis and its three crew despite low odds of recovery.
