Mount Vernon considers outdoor light limit ordinance
Mount Vernon officials draft a policy to curb excessive exterior lighting for new businesses, with grandfathering for current lights. The plan would cut nighttime levels by 60 percent for closed businesses from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Some cite security concerns over inventory while motion sensors are allowed. The City Council will review the measure again at the next meeting.
