Worst of storm misses Iowa but tomorrow could bring more snow
Much of Iowa escaped heavy snowfall though road conditions worsened across the state. Burlington logged four inches as another system threatened Friday. Iowa’s Interstate 80 faced slowdowns while snow depths rose in Mason City and other cities. The storm spawned eastward effects from Wyoming to California with blizzard conditions, closed bridges, stranded travelers, and high winds.

Cedar Rapids housing code debate centers on enforcement
Cedar Rapids residents and activists pressed Mayor Don Canney for an active enforceable minimum housing code. The group cited housing speculation in older multi family neighborhoods and criticized current zoning. Mayor Canney said R-6 would be stricter than R-4 and a standing code is being rewritten with a report due in about a week.
