Two IDOT workers die on Cedar Rapids I-380 project
Two Iowa Department of Transportation workers, Dale Scott and Keith Bennett, were killed while transporting barricades for a new I-380 section in Cedar Rapids. The breeze lifted a barricade, throwing them from a moving trailer. Scott died at Mercy Hospital and Bennett at St. Luke's. The driver was hospitalized, and the northbound lanes opened later that day. Bennett’s services are pending.

Santa hotline prank victim speaks of phone abuse
The Chicago area received abusive calls to a Santa Claus hotline as dozens of children dialed the number looking for gifts. The mistaken number belonged to Phillis Wegrzyn, a widow and mother of seven, who said the barrage drove her to tears and forced her to speak with columnist Mike Royko.

Iowa team tests shuttle arm for U of I PDP mission
