CHICAGO AP Hog prices showed little change from the prior week while cattle sold lower. Unofficial weekend estimates listed hog top at 13.60, same as Friday with average near 13.40, well above last year’s 9.92.
Salable receipts 300 cattle, Bearish pressure after last week's rally. Choice fed steers and yearlings 7s lower with instances $100 down. Cows steady. heavy beef cows up to 13.00 in load lots. Sheep receipts 1500, fat lambs mostly steady to higher with top around 15.60. Hogs on sale nominally steady with top about 13.60. weights 220 lbs around 5c lower, lighter weights in demand due to shipping.
AP report details meat pricing with ranges by weight from Minnesota butcher Austin Hogmabert. Tables show weights from 1180 to 580 pounds and prices from 12.20 to 12.90 per hundredweight. Other figures include 170 to 180 pounds and 280 to 340 pounds with varying dollars per unit.
Combined hog receipts at 19 concentration yards and 11 packing plants in interior Iowa and southern Minnesota for 24 hours ended 8 a.m. Saturday totaled 59,200, up from 57,660 a week ago and 56,000 a year ago. Quotations for the week of December 7 to 12 show Wisconsin brand cheddars bid 23 cents with junior cheddars at 22 and a half cents. Other styles were unquoted and no sales were recorded.

He cites flying fortresses and Sherman tanks from German plants and urges united effort to speed victory.
Hermie Franklin and John Goins, both of Milan Illinois aged 15 and 16, were turned over to Rock Island police for burglary prosecution after truth serum and lie detector tests in Chicago. Chief Reed Phillips said tests convinced them the youths had nothing to do with the slaying of John Duncan, a 61 year old Rock Island arsenal worker.
In New York the stock market showed slight losses as trading stayed sluggish and war issue prices failed to rally. The session opened unevenly and closed with minor losses as about 260000 shares changed hands, among the lightest volumes in over two months.
Moderate priced rail bonds were higher on Saturday in New York. Buying was selective as bidders targeted special situations or solid earnings reports, lifting some values.
In Chicago this weekend, cereal prices climbed as traders and producers boosted buying for actual grain, led by wheat and corn. Rye showed notable strength, while gains were trimmed by late profit-taking. wheat closed about unchanged to slightly higher.
Chicago cash market prices for wheat oats and barley are listed with bid offers and ranges. Wheat shows No 2 yellow at 91 and 93 cents, No 3 around 84 to 87 cents. Oats not given. Barley quoted with making 85 cents to 1.0 dollar, feed 67 to 68 cents. Feed grain values for timothy red clover sweet clover alfalfa listed at several dollars per hundredweight.

Baltimore based Sun reports the Office of Price Administration decreed compulsory coal conversions for almost all apartment houses and many commercial buildings.
