Sioux City AP report. W Cor nish Beck state witness in the gambling conspiracy trial of Attorney General Edward L. O Connor testified he urged O Connor to remove state agents from Sioux City and warned that the matter would be handled in the usual way. Beck recalled the late 1933 or January 1934 meeting after bombings tied to Sioux City gambling. He said three locals asked him to raise the issue with O Connor. He described himself as a general utility man for the Democratic state central committee in 1933 and as former manager of the state liquor store in Sioux City. Judge Earl Peters overruled defense motions to strike Becks testimony and statements. Beck said Myers, Myers friend, and Prince of the Eppley hotels spoke of stopping bombings if agents were removed. He testified O Connor recalled the agents later that day. Cross examination pressed the phrase what would be “taken care of.” Beck to return for more questioning.
