Courts rule police interview in Meskwaki murder case lawful
A federal magistrate denied a motion to suppress a police interview of Jonathan Curtis Youngbear and evidence from an initial house search on the Meskwaki settlement. Youngbear, 20, faces first degree murder charges for stabbing Severn Jefferson, 17, in his Tama settlement home after officers entered the house without a warrant following two 911 calls. The judge allowed the interview to stand except for a narrow portion about the assault, with trial set for February 23.
