Elderly Woman Found Dead in Sweltering High Point Home
In High Point North Carolina an 82 year old woman Amelia Ramage was found dead in her bed inside a home where heat melted a television ornament. Beatrice Ramage found her body after being barred by heat while opening the door. Owner Jim Bennett said furnace repairs had been attempted repeatedly with a last service on November 22. He blamed a malfunction that caused the furnace to keep running.

Galileo space probe to touch Jupiter atmosphere next week
Moffett Field Calif The Galileo space probe will descend about 75 minutes into Jupiter's upper atmosphere next Thursday marking the first man made object to touch a planet beyond Mars if plans hold.
