Linn-Mar coach emphasizes faith family and defense over basketball

Linn-Mar coach Bob Landis, whose starters average 3.75 in grades, says his No. 1 priority is belief in God and his second is family. He prefers to be called an educator, teaches social studies and government, and structures strict practice time focused on defense. Landis cites Todd Lumsden as a top forward and remembers Mike Hufford as his best scorer. About 515 coaches will attend a clinic at the Iowa Field House linked to the Amana-Hawkeye Classic, with sessions led by Don King, Jerry Leggett, and Earl Smith.
