Robbery near Kum & Go in Iowa City prompts police inquiry

A weekend robbery outside Kum & Go at 2303 Muscatine Ave left a man with minor injuries after a woman in a blue sweatshirt with a pink cloth mask pepper sprayed him and two men attacked him in an alley. Cedar Rapids burglar arrested in hit-and-run case

Cardel D. Redmond, 25, awaiting sentencing for burglary and theft, was arrested in Cedar Rapids after a hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman and linked to several burglaries. He allegedly stole a truck from Cancun Mexican Grill & Bar and used it to commit burglaries at AT&T locations before the crash.

Former Iowa deputy pleads not guilty in drug theft case

Aaron Leusink a 41 year old Plymouth County deputy from Le Mars pleaded not guilty to charges including first degree burglary felonious misconduct in office and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. The case involves theft from homes he searched while on duty and burglaries at five Plymouth County pharmacies beginning in 2017. Police say agents found over 1600 prescription pills cash and devices at his home. He was fired in April.
