On this date in 1944 the battle of Tannenberg in Poland saw German forces decisively defeat Russian units during World War I era hostilities.

Farmers discuss cash rent as Iowa lease termination deadline nears. Olsen and Hertz note bidding above market levels by some to secure land, but most farmers will cap rent near $100 an acre on 100 bushel yields. They anticipate more variable cash rents or crop share leases due to price uncertainty.
