Three Iowans killed in weekend traffic crashes
State authorities report three separate fatal accidents across Iowa. Robert George, 71, of Jefferson died after pulling into U S 30 and colliding with a car driven by Clifton Redmon, 23, of Cedar Rapids. George’s wife Ruby, 61, and two children were treated and released. In another crash, Scott Holmberg, 25, of Middletown was killed when his motorcycle struck a pedestrian, Hazel Shultz, 63, of Burlington, who was then airlifted to hospital. Fernand Ostwald, 82, of Whittemore died when his car rear-ended a semi driven by Gary Sikma, 22, of Hull. five Ostwald passengers were hospitalized in stable condition.

McGregor man dies after cycle crash in Wisconsin
Timothy Blackdeer, 20, of McGregor died in a La Crosse hospital Friday from injuries suffered in an August 19 motorcycle crash one mile north of Marquette on Highway 76. He was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by Jeffrey Bass, 18, of Florida. Bass was treated and released. This marks the fourth Clayton County fatality of 1981.

Robbery Report From Montrose Hotel Hallway
Police released details of a strong arm robbery Friday afternoon on the fourth floor of the Montrose Hotel. Clifford A. Reel, 60, said he was drinking with a young black man named Mike when they sold two of his rings for 149 dollars earlier that day. Mike knocked Reel down in the hallway and stole cash from his shirt pocket before leaving. Hotel staff found Reel shortly after 4 30 p.m. Reel could not identify his attacker.
