In San Francisco Upton Sinclair won the democratic primary and Sinclair promised to grant Tom Mooney a full pardon for his life sentence tied to the 1916 Preparedness Day bombing, a pledge cheered by Mooney who is jailed at San Quentin.
Milwaukee AP The American Bar Association adopted a five point program for a national offensive on crime after leaders urged decisive action. The plan calls for state departments of justice to supervise district attorneys sheriffs police and coroners and aims to curb criminal wrongdoing through improved procedures and tougher leadership.
