Motorist Fined $45 After Nighttime Accident
Miles Bextine, 2530 A avenue NE, was fined 45 dollars in municipal court after pleading guilty to failure to yield to a pedestrian. Glenn Wheeler Dies in California
Glenn C. Wheeler, longtime manager of Penick and Ford's Pacific coast division, died in Los Angeles early Monday. He had lived in Cedar Rapids 28 years before a 1950 transfer to Los Angeles and previously led western grocery products sales. He and his wife visited Cedar Rapids this summer with their son Glanville C. Wheeler and family. Cause of death was not immediately known.

Death of William J. Balsanek Listed as Carbon Monoxide Suicide
William J. Balsanek aged 37 was found dead in a car off River Road SW near the Prairie Creek plant. Linn County Coroner Per cy Harris ruled the death a self-inflicted carbon monoxide poisoning. He last was seen Friday evening by his wife. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, a son, parents, a sister and two brothers. Services set for Tuesday at Turner chapel with burial at Cedar Memorial.

Farmer Sues Over Pipeline Pitch Tar
